Known for serving boards inlaid with stone, shell, and metal, Jim Wright accentuates natural voids in wood. His current focus includes extending his inlay technique to furniture and non-functional art. His rural upbringing fostered an appreciation for nature. While earning a degree in Biology, he also studied photography. He began shooting landscapes and other natural subjects, especially trees. A fascination with trees and wood led him to cut into logs culled from firewood piles. The rugged beauty within them inspired him to find a way to use them in his work. Jim Wright was born and raised in western Pennsylvania and has lived in Mississippi and Virginia. He lives and works in Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
